All in To The Editor
We have a chance to bend the curve and potentially avert irreversible disastrous consequences, through changes in our individual behavior and a coordinated worldwide governmental response. We must seize this chance, for the good of all life on planet Earth.
I began to question the paper’s position on freedom of speech, divergence of thought, and acceptance of voices. Did the paper have a political slant that welcomed some voices and rejected or questioned others?
The way I see it, the current debate about the Covanta incinerator in Chester is skewed, warped, and hysterical.
I’m ready to be part of a long-term plan to improve air quality in Chester, to ensure that the Delaware County landfill Delco is used equitably and ethically, and to put us all on the road to zero waste. It’s a LONG road. I’ve started. I hope you will too.
Having been cited by name in Rich Ailes’s most recent letter to the editor (The Swarthmorean, June 4) regarding trash incineration in Chester, I feel constrained to respond.
Parents, guardians, and teachers, you change lives every day, and we hope for the better. Lesbian. Gay. Bisexual. Transgender. Queer. Kids can’t grow up fearing who they are. Make sure you always support kids no matter who they love or who they want to be.
Because I had a long career in newspapering, I bring, I think, a different perspective to this continuing brouhaha over what some suggest is The Swarthmorean publishers’ insufficient commitment to racial/social justice.
Rotarians give of themselves and join with others who do the same thing. Service Above Self. It’s more than a slogan.
The idea of somehow achieving zero waste is utter fantasy. It is about as realistic as loading all the trash onto rocket ships and dumping it in space.
Recent letters to the editor of The Swarthmorean regarding the waste-to-energy plant run by Covanta in Chester appear to have veered into the realm of propaganda rather than actual fact.
