‘Service Above Self’
To the Editor,
In your June 11 issue, when Trinity Townsend said, “I’m only 19, but I want to contribute something different. I want to contribute something that can’t be bought and sold, something intangible.” I felt exactly the same way when I retired and moved back to Swarthmore.
So what did I do? I joined the Rotary Club of Swarthmore and have never been sorry. That is what Rotarians do. Rotarians give of themselves and join with others who do the same thing. Service Above Self. It’s more than a slogan.
At 19, Trinity could restart a Rotaract Club at Swarthmore College. We will help her do it. Or, she can join our local Rotary Club and help us bring Trades Education to needy Chester kids — boys and girls. We need lots of help with that.
What an exciting life you have before you, Trinity. And the sooner you start, the better...
