Chester Charter Scholars Academy Presents: Step Into Our Studio

Step Into Our Studio is a series of virtual creative workshops – on the visual arts, music, and poetry — led by teachers at Chester Charter Scholars Academy, and featuring students demonstrating their own work. This family-friendly series is an opportunity to experience the school’s approach to arts-integrated virtual learning, challenge your creativity, and learn new skills.

Longer Hours at Tyler

Tyler Arboretum is expanding its hours this year. From now through October 31, it will be open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. This change means 16 more open hours a week than in previous seasons, which will give members, volunteers, and the public more time to enjoy the arboretum’s collections and landscapes.

Book It 5K Walk and Run (Hats Optional)

The Swarthmore Public Library presents its fifth annual Book It 5K Walk and Run, in celebration of the library community. To adhere to social distancing guidelines, the race will be held virtually this year. After registering online, participants will walk or run a 5K anytime between April 24 and May 2.

The girls — all students at Strath Haven Middle School or Delaware Valley Friends School — held a bake-off, which was judged by a panel of local experts.

Sam Bittman, the project’s co-founder (with Swarthmore resident Bill Davis), will be the guest speaker at the Swarthmore Senior Citizens Association’s Lunch and Learn program on February 24.

Zoom Tunes

The Department of Music and Dance at Swarthmore College will host a virtual performance series, Zoom Tunes, that brings prominent guest artists to the Swarthmore community over Zoom on Sundays at 1 p.m., beginning on February 21.
