‘Educate’ Features Work by Local Teaching Artists
A new exhibition at the Community Arts Center, “Educate: Delaware County Higher Education Teaching Artists,” features two- and three-dimensional work by 16 teaching artists who work in the art departments of six Delaware County colleges and universities: Cheyney University, Delaware County Community College, Haverford College, Neumann University, Penn State Brandywine, and Swarthmore College.
“It is an honor to show the work of these wonderful educators, who are actively passing on the tradition of art-making to generations of emerging artists,” says the arts center’s executive director, Paul Downie.
The participating artists are Markus Baenziger, Syd Carpenter, Marietta Dantonio-Madsen, Helena Domenic, Randall Exon, Doug Herron, Glenn Holmstrom, Joel Keener, Hee Sook Kim, Ying Li, John Manteau, Andrea Packard, Jaime Treadwell, Tess Wei, Erin Wheary, and William Williams.
The exhibition will be on view between March 14 and April 16, both in person in the Duke Gallery at the arts center and online. An opening reception for a limited number of guests will be held at the gallery on Sunday, March 14, from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission to the reception is free, but pre-registration is required.
The Community Arts Center is located at 414 Plush Mill Road, Wallingford. Its regular gallery hours are Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. No appointment is necessary to visit the gallery during regular hours. Masks are required for entry.
