Driving Under the Influence

Jan. 2, 9:18 p.m.: Police were on routine patrol near Swarthmore and S. Morton avenues when they saw a Ford Explorer driving north on Swarthmore Avenue. One officer heard a loud screech coming from the car, which was smoking and driving without a front tire. The police stopped the car and asked the driver for her license. She seemed impaired, so officers asked her to perform several field sobriety tests, which she was not able to complete. The driver was then placed under arrest for violating Pennsylvania Vehicle Code section 3802: driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance. Charges are pending in Crum Lynne District Court.
