Accidents
Dec. 11, 5:28 p.m.: An accident occurred at the intersection of N. Chester Road and Baltimore Pike when a car heading north on Chester stopped at the red light and the car behind it failed to stop in time. The cars, which were slightly damaged, were driven away from the scene. One person was minorly injured.
Dec. 11, 11:19 p.m.: A single-vehicle accident occurred when a car driving west on S. Morton Avenue near the intersection with Swarthmore Avenue struck the curb with its passenger-side tire and lost control, hitting the traffic signal pole. The car had to be towed.
Dec. 16, 5:07 p.m.: A crash occurred on Baltimore Pike when an eastbound car, waiting in the left-turn lane to turn left onto Sproul Road (Route 320), decided to pull out into the next lane and continue east through the intersection. In the process, it struck a car already in that lane heading east through the light. Damage was minor and neither car needed towing.
Dec. 18, 5:17 p.m.: A crash occurred at the corner of S. Chester Road and Fairview Road when two southbound cars were waiting at the red light. The person in the rear car dropped something and, while trying to retrieve it, took their foot off the brake and hit the car in front. Only minor damage was sustained.
Dec. 24, 11:12 a.m.: An accident occurred at the intersection of Cornell and Yale Avenues when a car driving north on Cornell — having stopped at the stop sign — proceeded into the intersection and was hit by a car heading east on Yale. The northbound car was disabled and had to be towed.
Dec. 25, 8:12 a.m.: The driver of a car traveling south on S. Chester Road near the intersection with Harvard Avenue dozed off, drifted to the right, and struck two PennDOT traffic signs and a fire hydrant. The car was disabled and had to be towed.
Cars Broken Into
Several unlocked cars were broken into around the 300 block of Rutgers Avenue and the 400 block of Harvard Avenue during the night of Saturday, Dec. 28 into Sunday, Dec. 29.
Medical Emergencies
Police responded to sixteen medical emergencies during this period, assisting medics and the Swarthmore ambulance.
Alarms
Police responded to eleven alarm calls including false burglar alarms, fire alarms, and panic alarms.
