Talent lining up for YPTW Arts-a-Thon

To the Community:

Plans are shaping up for our Arts-A-Thon and free concert on July 27 at the Players Club of Swarthmore. The “Children of the Wind” fundraiser is our answer to the needs of children who are detained at the U.S. southern border, by helping fund the work of RAICES and Together Rising. Learn more about these groups and their mission at yptw.org.

The event will run from 3:30 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, the 27th. Among the performers already committed are Marissa Perri and Sabrina Caputo singing the haunting duet “Flight” and Val Haber, Sid Misra and Joshua Peacock presenting a trio from the musical Next to Normal. Charlotte Taylor will sing Woody Guthrie’s “Deportees” and Amelia SanFilippo and the Harrington Theatre Arts Company (HTAC) from the University of Delaware will sing “What I Did for Love” from A Chorus Line. Attendees can also look forward to performances by singers Meredith Forman, Annie Mutz, Damola Songonuga, tap dancer Tommy Bennett, and classical pianist Eric Tao. Volunteer pianists for the event are Christopher Ertelt and Paul Kerrigan.

Donations and pledges have been coming in steadily from both performers and community members who share our commitment to do something positive in response to this crisis. I encourage everyone to attend this free day of music and artistic expression at The Players Club of Swarthmore. Donations can be made through the YPTW webpage. There are also more opportunities to add your voice to the list of performers. Slots will be added as necessary.
