To the Community:
I want to send a big thank you out to all who supported the Tie Dye Music Festival at the Community Arts Center in Wallingford this past Saturday. Like everything at the CAC, this event is a coming together of many people to create something special for the community.
Special thanks go out to our presenting sponsors Ginger March and J. Rossi, as well as our sponsor Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union. Also, to the bands: Darlingtyn, Out Of Order, Brian Kors, The Obsoleets and Sweet 66. Out of Order, led by Swarthmorean Herb Mondros, has the distinction of being the only band to perform at every Tie Dye Music Festival since we started the event seven years ago! This year they kicked it up a notch with a New Orleans-style processional across the lawn to the stage at the top of their set.
The event would not be possible without the dedication of the CAC staff and volunteers. Tie dyeing is an institution at the CAC, popularized over many years by our beloved ceramics teacher Bob Deane. This year he handed over the torch to our young and talented staff member Graham Brewer, who headed up the tie dye operations.
Last, but not least, thanks to everyone who came out and participated in the event. We hope you had FUN! If you tie dyed, please post pictures online and tag us. We’d love to see your creations. See you next summer for the 8th annual festival.
