In this two-week period, the ambulance responded to 31 calls for medical assistance, to Swarthmore, Rutledge, Morton, Springfield, Media, Nether Providence Township, and Ridley Township. The calls were for a variety of emergencies, including respiratory emergency (COVID-19), hypotension (COVID-19), unconscious person, semi-conscious person, pediatric emergency, change in mental status, heart failure, and a suicide attempt.
In total, five calls were related to COVID-19, reflecting rising case counts in our area.
In addition, the fire company responded to:
10 automatic fire alarms.
Five structure fire alarms, including at 950 Baltimore Pike in Springfield (Giant Foods) for fire inside the door panel in the deli department, 1022 Baltimore Pike in Springfield (Panera Bread) for a working fire in a store, and 820 Baltimore Pike in Springfield for white smoke from the roof.
One automobile alarm at the intersection of Providence Road and Bullens Lane in Nether Providence Township for an accident with injuries.
One automobile alarm at Walnut Street and North Morton Avenue for an accident with injuries.
One hazmat alarm on Wellesley Road in Swarthmore for a basement carbon monoxide detector.
Nine mutual aid calls to Morton, Springfield Township, and Nether Providence Township.
