Swarthmore Fire & Protective Association Report (December 14-27)

In this two-week period, the ambulance responded to 24 calls for medical assistance, to Swarthmore, Rutledge, Morton, Springfield, Nether Providence Township, and Ridley Township. The calls were for a variety of emergencies, including respiratory emergency (COVID-19), head injury (COVID-19), basic life support emergency (COVID-19), cardiac arrest, pediatric emergency, and overdose.
In addition, the fire company responded to:
Five structure fires, including one on Leslie Lane in Nether Providence for smoke issuing from a shed and one on the 100 block of South Princeton Avenue in Swarthmore for a smoking electrical outlet.
One elevator rescue at 800 Avondale Road in Nether Providence for two people trapped in an elevator.
Two automobile alarms, in Swarthmore and Nether Providence, for accidents with injuries.
One wire alarm in the 100 block of Strath Haven Avenue in Swarthmore for a broken utility pole with wires on fire.
Three automatic fire alarms, including one on the 100 block of Guernsey Road in Swarthmore for a general alarm fire.
Three hazmat alarms.
Six mutual aid calls to Morton and Nether Providence Township.
