Swarthmore Fire & Protective Association Report (September 14-27)

In this two-week period, the ambulance responded to 24 calls for medical assistance, to Swarthmore, Rutledge, Morton, Springfield, Media, Nether Providence Township, and Ridley Township. The calls were for a variety of emergencies, including head injury, overdose, tachycardia, abdominal pain, and respiratory emergency.
In addition, the fire company responded to:
Two automatic fire alarms.
One building alarm, for a possible oven fire.
One automobile alarm for an accident with injuries at the intersection of Yale Avenue and South Chester Road in Swarthmore.
Four elevator alarms, including three calls to 10 S. Chester Road, Swarthmore.
Seven hazmat alarms, including five calls for an odor of natural gas, or chemical odor, in the area of Swarthmore, Nether Providence, and Rutledge. Other communities in the county received similar complaints between 11:49 a.m. and 1:18 p.m. on September 25. No cause was identified.
One wire alarm at 101 S. Chester Road for a sparking transformer.
One dumpster alarm at 228 Harding Ave. in Morton.
Four mutual aid calls to Nether Providence Township and Morton.
