Report from the Fire Company: May 6 through May 19, 2019
From May 6 through May 19, 2019, the Swarthmore Fire & Protective Association responded to the following alarms:
EMS
The ambulance responded to 45 calls for medical assistance. These were to Swarthmore, Rutledge, Morton, Springfield, Ridley Township, and Nether Providence Twp. The calls were for a variety of emergencies including: fall w/ trauma, sick person, respiratory difficulty, cardiac emergency, head injury, pediatric emergency, hemorrhaging, syncopal episode, change in mental status, extremity pain, semi-conscious person, unconscious person, hypotension, hypertension, seizures, accident w/ injury, cerebro vascular event, psychiatric emergency, nature unknown, pedestrian struck and choking.
Automatic Fire Alarm
Morton in the 400 block of Baltimore Pike for a bathroom smoke detector activation. Nether Providence Twp. in the 700 Avondale Rd. for multiple fire alarms sounding, and in the 1000 block of Beech Street for a 2nd floor smoke detector activation. Springfield Twp., at 615 S. Chester Rd. for a general smoke alarm.
Automobile
Morton at 7 Kedron Ave. for a vehicle into a pole with injuries. Springfield Twp. in the 600 block of South Chester Rd. for an accident with multiple injuries.
Building
Swarthmore in the 100 block of Forest Lane for an oven fire, in the 300 block of Dartmouth Ave. for a kitchen fire, and at a residence off of Michigan Ave for a gas grill fire. Ridley Twp. in the 1900 block of Pershing Ave. for smoke on the 2nd floor.
Hazmat
Swarthmore in the 500 block of Cedar Ln. for a kitchen carbon monoxide detector activation, and on the 400 block of Vassar Ave. for a gas line struck by a contractor. Nether Providence Twp. on the 100 block of Bullens Lane for a gas line struck by a contractor. Springfield Twp. at Springfield Mall for employees sickened from a cleaning solvent spilled on the floor.

Swarthmore at South Princeton & Park avenues for a wires call.
Mutual Aid Calls
Two to Morton/Rutledge; three to Nether Providence Twp.; one each to Ridley Twp. and Springfield Twp.
