Report from the Fire Company: May 20 through June 2, 2019
From May 20 through June 2, 2019, the Swarthmore Fire & Protective Association responded to the following alarms:
EMS
The ambulance responded to 33 calls for medical assistance. These were to Swarthmore, Rutledge, Morton, Springfield, Ridley Township, and Nether Providence Twp. The calls were for a variety of emergencies including: fall w/trauma, sick person, respiratory difficulty, cardiac emergency, head injury, pediatric emergency, hemorrhaging, change in mental status, unconscious person, hypotension, seizures, accident w/injury, psychiatric emergency, nature unknown, medical alarm, assault, dead on arrival, abdominal pain, fracture, injured person, allergic reaction, diabetic emergency and suicide attempt.
Automatic Fire Alarm
oke alarm activation; 900 block of Westdale Ave. for smoke detector activation; 100 block of Forrest Lane for basement smoke detector activation. Nether Providence Twp. in the 300 block of Pritchard Lanc for a first floor smoke alarm.
Automobile
Nether Providence Twp., S. Providence & Waterford roads for a two vehicle accident with entrapment (see photo).
Building
Two alarms in Swarthmore: 300 block of Dartmouth Ave. for a strong odor of paint thinner; 400 block of Dartmouth Ave. for odor of natural gas outside. Morton, in the 500 block of N. Morton Ave. for flames inside the stove. Nether Providence Twp., in the 300 block of Saybrook Ln. for the odor of something burning.
