Report from the Fire Company: March 25 through April 7, 2019
From March 25 through April 7, the Swarthmore Fire & Protective Association responded to the following alarms:
EMS
The ambulance responded to 32 calls for medical assistance. These were to Swarthmore, Rutledge, Morton, Springfield, Ridley Township, and Nether Providence Twp. The calls were for a variety of emergencies including: fall with trauma, sick person, respiratory difficulty, cardiac emergency, head injury, pediatric emergency, hemorrhaging, syncopal episode, back pain, change in mental status, extremity pain, injured person, cerebro vascular event, unconscious person, overdose, lifting assist, fire with entrapment, EMS assist to Ridley Park (only the ambulance was dispatched).
Automatic Fire Alarm
Swarthmore, on the 100 block of Park Ave. for a 1st floor smoke and pull station alarm. Morton, on the 100 block of Amosland Rd. for hallway smoke detector activation. Nether Providence Twp. (3 alarms): two alarms in the 700 block of Hemlock Rd. for a 3rd floor smoke detector activation, and one in the 500 block of Plush Mill Rd.
Building
Swarthmore, at 500 College Ave. for a fire in Swarthmore College’s Alice Paul dorm.
Hazmat
Morton, at N. Morton Ave. and Althea Ln. for a strong odor of natural gas outside.
Brush/Dumpster
Morton, on the 400 block of Baltimore Pike for a dumpster fire.
Wires
Swarthmore, on the 300 block of Yale Ave. for wires arcing in the street.
