From March 11 through March 24, the Swarthmore Fire & Protective Association responded to the following alarms:

EMS

The ambulance responded to 33 calls for medical assistance. These were to Swarthmore, Rutledge, Morton, Springfield, Ridley Township, and Nether Providence Twp. The calls were for a variety of emergencies including: fall with trauma, sick person, respiratory difficulty, cardiac emergency, accident with injuries, head injury, pediatric emergency, hemorrhaging, seizures, syncopal episode, bradycardia, back pain, laceration, suicide attempt, nature unknown, and arm stuck in railing.

Automatic Fire Alarm

Swarthmore, on the 100 block of College Avenue, and at Strath Haven Condominiums for stairway smoke detector activation. Morton, on the 100 block of S. Morton Ave.

Building

Swarthmore, on the 400 block of Drexel Place for smoke coming from the garbage disposal. Morton, one on the 100 block of Sycamore Ave. for a gas grill on fire; one on the 200 block of School Street for a smoke detector activation called in by a neighbor.

Hazmat

Nether Providence Twp., on the 900 block of S. Providence Road for a carbon monoxide alarm in the kitchen.

Brush

Swarthmore, in the Swarthmore College woods for uncontrolled burning.

Mutual Aid Calls

Three to Morton/Rutledge, and one to Nether Providence Twp.
