Accidents

  • June 20 at 9:28 p.m.: Police responded to the Strath Haven and Rutgers avenues for a motor vehicle crash involving two vehicles. At the completion of the investigation, it was determined that one car was traveling east on Strath Haven Ave. crossing the intersection with Rutgers Ave. The driver of this car became distracted, and struck an unoccupied, parked car on Rutgers Ave., just east of the intersection.  There were no injuries reported but the striking car had to be towed from the scene because of front end damage.

  • June 21 at 6:36 p.m.: Police were dispatched to the intersection of Swarthmore Ave. and Wellesley Rd. for an accident involving two vehicles. After investigating the cause, it was determined that both cars were traveling south on Swarthmore Ave., stopping for the Wellesley Rd. intersection. As both cars continued south, the first car slowed for the milled roadway when the second car failed to slow down, striking the first car in the rear bumper. There were no injuries. Neither vehicle required towing and were driven from the scene.

  • June 24 at 12:50 p.m.: Police responded to a two-car motor vehicle crash in the 1100 block of Baltimore Pike.  After the investigation, it was determined that both cars were traveling west on Baltimore Pike when the first car stopped to allow a car to turn left in front of it.  The second car was traveling directly behind that first car and failed to stop in time, striking its rear bumper.  One occupant stated that they began to feel pain in their back and was subsequently transported to the hospital for treatment.  Neither car required towing because of damage.

Alarms

Police responded to 12 alarm calls, including false burglar alarms, fire alarms, and panic alarms, etc.

Medical Emergencies

Police responded to 18 medical emergencies assisting medics, and the Swarthmore Ambulance for a variety of medical calls.
