Accidents
Jan. 28, 2:06 p.m.: Two cars on Baltimore Pike were stopped at the light at Riverview, one behind the other. When the light turned green, the driver of the second car took his foot off the brake, hitting the car in front. No one was hurt, and both cars were able to be driven from the scene.
Jan. 29, 9:40 a.m.: A car driving north on S. Chester Road was turning left toward the Swarthmore train station when the driver spilled a drink. With the driver distracted, the car jumped a curb, sustaining enough damage that it needed to be towed. No one was injured.
Jan. 31, 4:41 p.m.: A car heading west on Ogden Avenue attempted to turn left on N. Chester Road in heavy traffic, but was hit by a car coming toward it heading south on N. Chester Road. No one was hurt, and both cars were able to be driven from the scene.
Feb. 2, 7:09 a.m.: A car was letting out passengers at the circle at the end of Whittier Place. The driver began to drive while someone was still getting out, and their leg and foot were struck by the car’s rear tire. The injured person was transported to Springfield Hospital for treatment of a minor injury. The car was not damaged.
Feb. 2: 11:33 a.m.: A car, driving north on Folsom Avenue near Melrose Terrace in Rutledge, began to slide when the driver put on her brakes. A second car, driving east on Melrose Terrace, had stopped at the stop sign but then entered the intersection, where it was hit by the first, sliding car. The second car was damaged enough (in the rear quarter panel) that it had to be towed. No one was hurt.
Medical Emergencies
Police responded to seven medical emergencies, assisting medics and the Swarthmore ambulance.
Alarms
Police responded to eight alarm calls, including false burglar alarms, fire alarms, and panic alarms.
