To the Community,

Thank you! Thank you! With very little advance notice and much to do, you came through for us. The Block Party was designed to raise awareness and funds for the Chester Trades Education Project, or CTEP: an ambitious, collaborative effort to bring economic opportunity to Chester’s young adults by providing training in the skilled trades.

Many thanks to Rob Borgstrom and the entire Swarthmorean staff for their time and efforts. With Rob’s help we were able to present some of the best bands in the area, including Tick Check, The Dope Pinheads and Local Honey.

The Inn at Swarthmore (Anthony you are the best!), Shutdown BBQ with Vicky’s Place, and Ship Bottom Brewing provided delicious and plentiful food and beverage offerings. And we must give a special shout out to Greg Hoy of Shutdown BBQ with Paul Feldmayer of Vicky’s Place for donating all their profits to our cause.

Sarah Matthews of Swarthmore Town Center (STC) was amazing—jumping in and coordinating the town with ease, and PromoteIt printed our signs and flyers for free.

We cannot forget our major sponsors. There were many Rotarians who helped sponsor the event, but Johnson Controls, Deborah Truscello, and dozens of individual contractors (please note that Jack Kuntz’s number was incorrect: it’s 610-416-2504) pitched in to bring our total fundraising to a whopping $10,000!

If you would like to donate to CTEP, contact Betty Ann Flynn at flynnphoto@comcast.net. We will need every dollar you send.

Lastly, thanks must go to all who attended the CTEP event—400+ and strong! Your attendance and the dollars you spent made our first CTEP fundraiser fun and profitable.

All the best,

The Rotary Club of Swarthmore

Thanks, Scott

Thanks, Scott
