It’s time to step up
To the Community,
The Swarthmore Fire & Protective Association is currently in the midst of its annual fundraising drive. Each year, the department asks community residents to show their support by making financial donations so that it can continue to provide its critical services. For the fire department, as for so many other organizations, this has been a particularly hard year. The annual tree sale, which usually brings in significant funds to the department, had to be cancelled because weather related issues substantially reduced the supply of trees.
The fire department’s importance to the community can hardly be overstated. Not only do its members respond to fire and emergency calls, but over the years they have helped pump out countless flooded basements after heavy rains, and they are always available to help with community events. They are there when we need them. So now it is our turn to help them.
I urge you to be as generous as you can, but no donation is too small. You can make checks payable to “The Swarthmore Fire and Protective Association” and mail them to P.O. Box 261, Swarthmore, PA 19081.
Thank you,
Marty Spiegel, Mayor
Swarthmore
