Vote on November 5

To the Community:

Tuesday, November 5 is Municipal Election Day when voters cast their ballots for an array of county, township, borough, and judicial offices. Municipal elections have traditionally low turnout, and this is a shame because those we elect make important decisions that affect our everyday lives, on matters like police and fire protection, zoning, building codes, parks and open space, waste disposal, public education, and how we pay for it all.  

Please plan to vote. To go prepared, visit the League of Women Voters’ nonpartisan online voter’s guide at www.vote411.org. Simply enter your address to get information on who and what will be on the ballot where you vote. Most, but not all of the candidates have posted biographical information and statements in support of their candidacies. This year’s election will include a race for three seats on the Delaware County Council which could change control of county government from Republican to Democrat for the first time ever. The race for seats on the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas could also result in some seats going to Democrats. There is an interesting ballot measure asking voters to approve a proposed amendment to the Pennsylvania Constitution known as the Victim’s Rights Amendment. It sounds like a good idea, but is it?
