These results are preliminary and unofficial, as of November 5 at 11:18 pm. Because of changes to voting rules, and this election’s occurring during a pandemic, far more mail-in and absentee ballots were cast than ever before. Pennsylvania law disallows counting those ballots before election day, so we will have to wait for final results. Free to read and share

Delaware County is governed by a five-member County Council, which is responsible for all legislative and administrative functions of the County government. On November 5th, an unprecedented three Council seats are up for grabs. Democrats seek their first Council majority in history. On November 5th in Delaware County, three seats on county council, six judgeships, and the District Attorney’s office are on the countywide ballot. The Court of Common Pleas has the authority to hear all varieties of cases within Delaware County. Judicial terms run for ten years. Like all 67 Pennsylvania counties, Delaware County is under mandate to replace its voting machines by the end of 2019. In Delco, that means goodbye to the Danaher voting machines in place since 2005, which had notorious setup and reliability problems, and anyway are at the end of their useful life. Replacement of these machines has taken on added weight in light of recent election system hacking efforts.
