Swarthmore Fire & Protective Association Report (March 22-April 4)
In this two-week period, the ambulance responded to 32 calls for medical assistance, to Swarthmore, Rutledge, Morton, Springfield, Nether Providence Township, Ridley Park, and Ridley Township. The calls were for a variety of emergencies, including respiratory emergency, head injury, pediatric emergency, diabetic emergency, seizures, suicide attempt, and cardiac arrest. 10 of the calls were to assist COVID-19-positive people.
In addition, the fire company responded to:
Three building alarms, including one in the 300 block of Dartmouth Avenue in Swarthmore for a stove that would not shut off.
Four automobile alarms, including one on northbound Interstate Highway 476 in Nether Providence Township for an automobile running into the guardrail, with entrapment.
One cover assignment in Glenolden.
Five automatic alarms.
Eight mutual aid calls to Morton, Nether Providence Township, Glenolden, and Springfield Township.
