The ambulance responded to 31 calls for medical assistance in Swarthmore, Rutledge, Morton, Springfield, Ridley, and Nether Providence for emergencies ranging from head injuries and tachycardia to overdose and death. The fire company responded to two automatic fire alarms because smoke detectors were activated; two building alarms (one for an oven fire); and five hazmat alarms when people smelled gas. Two wire alarms included a hazardous situation involving a downed pole on Rutgers Avenue in Swarthmore and a smoking transformer in Nether Providence. The fire company also responded to nine mutual aid calls in Morton-Rutledge, Nether Providence, and Springfield.
