Swarthmore High School Seniors: Apply Now for the Edmund Jones Scholarship
The Swarthmore Centennial Foundation is once again offering its annual Edmund Jones Scholarship of $6,000, to be awarded to a high school senior who lives in Swarthmore and has contributed to the betterment of the borough. The scholarship has been awarded every year since 1993, when it was established by the late Edmund Jones, a former mayor of Swarthmore and a founding member of the Centennial Foundation.
Applicants should submit the following:
A letter highlighting your commitment to community service.
A short essay on one of the following topics:
“My life in Swarthmore.”
“My ideas for making Swarthmore a better place.”
“The impact a Swarthmore organization has had on my life.”
Your high school transcript.
Completed applications must be submitted by Thursday, April 15, either by email to Swarthmorefoundation@gmail.com or by mail (postmarked on or before April 15) to Swarthmore Centennial Foundation, P.O. Box 493, Swarthmore, PA 19081.
The scholarship will be paid in four $1,500 installments, one in each of the student’s four years of college. The foundation’s most recent scholarship winners are Anya Hooper (2020), Lena Lofgren (2019), Leah Graham (2018), and Peter Foggo (2017). If you know of a deserving Swarthmore senior, the foundation asks that you please encourage them to apply.
