Strath Haven High School was ranked the ninth-best public high school in Pennsylvania for 2019, according to U.S. News and World Report, which tracks 24,000 schools across the country. SHHS received a score of 97.62 out of a possible 100.

Julia R. Masterman Secondary School in Philadelphia, Downingtown STEM Academy, and Radnor High School took the first, second, and third place spots.

In the Philadelphia area, which includes parts of Delaware, SHHS ranked 11th. Nationally, it came in at 424. 

Rankings are based on how well students do on state-required tests, how well they prepare students for college, and graduation rates, among other factors. According to the U.S. News scorecard, 72% of SHHS students took at least one advanced placement test (with 58% passing at least one). The school’s graduation rate is reported to be 96%. The school came in 6th in the state on the report’s “College Readiness Index,” 7th in “College Curriculum Breadth Index,” and 128th in “Graduation Rate Rank.”

Other reported statistics indicate that 26% of SHHS students are minorities and 14% are economically disadvantaged.
