Boo-est in Show
Congratulations to the winners of the 2020 Best-Decorated Halloween House Contests in Nether Providence and Swarthmore!
The Nether Providence winners are:
The Keenan family
The Baker family
The Anderson family
Nether Providence honorable mentions (in no particular order):
503 Scott Lane
431 New Jersey Avenue
325 Palmers Lane
1 Dale Lane
708 Pine Ridge Road
In the Nether Providence contest, 34 houses were considered for awards, said Township Manager David Grady. “Some were spotted in travels, while others actually entered the competition. There wasn’t a requirement that someone submit an entry in order to be considered.”
Initial judging was performed by Grady, along with Nether Providence Police Chief David Splain, Administrative Assistant Anne Marie Cooke, Zoning Officer Maureen Feyas, and a few others. After they made a list of their favorites, the Board of Commissioners and its staff members rank-voted the houses on the list to choose the top locations.
The Swarthmore contest’s winners are (in no particular order):
The Barrett family
The DiBonaventura family
The Millett family
In Swarthmore, 19 homes participated. The 10 judges included some Swarthmore Recreation Association board members, two Strath Haven Middle School teachers (Dan Shaffer and Brad Hosbach) and three Swarthmore merchants (Shannon Elliott of Harvey Oak Mercantile, Martha Perkins of Gallery on Park, and Jeanna Vanni of The Pilates Connexion).
