Dr. Dennis Hoffman retired on June 26, almost exactly 50 years since beginning his dental practice in Swarthmore.

Over the decades at the 107 Rutgers Avenue office, Dr. Hoffman has served several generations of Swarthmore patients. That practice will be taken on by Dr. Mark Forwood, a Wallingford resident and Strath Haven alumnus, who has worked for the past four years in a private practice in Clifton Heights.

Dr. Hoffman and his wife Barbara — who is also retiring after a long career as a member of the team at the practice — are looking forward to spending more time with their one- and five-year-old grandchildren who live in New Jersey. He’s joined a book group, and will continue to be part of the community and an active member of the Rotary Club of Swarthmore.

The dental office at 107 Rutgers will close for refurbishment until Dr. Forwood’s practice opens there in August. However, patients old and new can make appointments through the office line at 610-543-7444.
