Thursday Night Lives Again

Thursday Night Lives Again

The Minor Adjustments play Thursday Night Live June 27.

Continuing a summer tradition initiated in 2017, Thursday Night Live begins again in Swarthmore on June 27 at the Central Park amphitheater, with music by the Swarthmore hometown band Swukestra, and young local acoustic phenoms The Minor Adjustments. The free concerts begin at 7 p.m. in the amphitheater and run until about 10. It’s a perfect setting for a picnic dinner, with food from a number of Swarthmore eateries open for the occasion, or packed at home for your family.

The series takes a week off for July 4, then resumes June 11 in earnest with live bands Curb Alert and Nethermind. Throughout July and August, there will be music in this lovely outdoor setting every Thursday from 7 to 10. If the weather turns rainy, the fun moves indoors, at waR3house3, 100 Park Ave., suite WH3.

Summer Street Stroll Debuts, Too

Summer evenings are good for strolling Swarthmore, and on this coming Thursday, even better for eating and shopping there. June 27 will be the debut of the monthly Summer Street Stroll, turning a portion of Park Avenue into a pedestrian plaza, with merchants, restaurants, pop-ups, community organizations and food trucks from 7 to 10 pm. Subsequent Strolls are set for Thursdays, July 25 and August 22.

Dining options at the June 27th Street Stroll will include The Plum Pit (a food truck), Waffles for Tourettes, and Good Boy Burgers by Hobbs Coffee. Swarthmore Recreation Association gives out free watermelon and puts out lawn games like cornhole, while Donna Diakite offers reflexology treatments and Houseplant Hospital gives green advice and goods. Stop by for specials at Gallery on Park, Harvey Oak Mercantile, visit the gallery at waR3house3, and schmooze with folks from the Swarthmorean. The concert series is a project of Swarthmore Town Center.
