The Swarthmore Borough Police Department has recently acquired a new speed timing device. As previously discussed at Borough Council, the department received its new “E.N.R.A.D.D” (Electronic Non-Radar Device). All officers have been trained in the new piece of equipment, and it is now operational. Residents should expect to see the department utilizing this equipment in its continuing effort to reduce speeding violations throughout the borough.

Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Ogden Avenue and Guernsey Road for a reported single vehicle accident. An investigation determined that the operator of the vehicle was traveling west on Ogden Avenue, became distracted, and jumped the curb, striking a “No Parking” sign and a telephone pole. The vehicle sustained damage that required it to be towed, but no injuries occurred as a result of the collision.
