Officers were dispatched to the intersection of S. Chester Road and Yale Ave. for a crash with reported injuries. One driver, complaining of pain, was given treatment by responding paramedics. The investigation determined that one car was traveling north on S. Chester Rd., while the other vehicle involved was traveling west on Yale Ave. Witness statements confirmed that the westbound van failed to stop for the solid red traffic signal, entering the intersection at the same time as the northbound car, which struck the van on the driver’s side front door area.
The Swarthmore Borough Police Department has recently acquired a new speed timing device. As previously discussed at Borough Council, the department received its new “E.N.R.A.D.D” (Electronic Non-Radar Device). All officers have been trained in the new piece of equipment, and it is now operational. Residents should expect to see the department utilizing this equipment in its continuing effort to reduce speeding violations throughout the borough.
