Accidents
On Friday, March 1, at 12:10 p.m., Swarthmore Borough officers responded to the intersection of N. Chester Rd and Swarthmore Ave. for a report of a motor vehicle crash. At arrival, Patrolman Roger Hinckley and Chief Raymond Stufflet found no major injuries, but the damage to the vehicles was extensive, to the degree that both had to be removed from the scene by a tow truck. Through investigation, it was determined that one vehicle involved had failed to stop for the solid red traffic signal, striking the other car in the intersection.
On Sunday, March 17, at 4:30 p.m., Ptlm. John Stilwell responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Yale Ave. and Harvard Ave. At arrival, it was determined that there were no injuries, but both vehicles had to be removed from the scene by a tow truck. It was determined through investigation that one vehicle involved had pulled into the intersection from Harvard Ave, without clearance, striking the other car on Yale Ave.
Theft
On March 17, Ptlm. John Stilwell received a report of a theft from a property in the unit block of Dartmouth Ave. The victim reported that sometime between mid-February and March 14, some unknown person(s) had removed several ladders and power equipment from the exterior of his property.
Wrong-Way Parking Enforcement Begins Next Week
On Saturday, March 16, several Swarthmore Borough officers were on duty during and at the conclusion of the NCAA Division III national basketball championship game (Swarthmore vs. Wisconsin-Oshkosh). Officers were prepared to assist with any safety concerns, should they arise; no issues were found to be present. The Swarthmore Borough Police Dept. congratulates the Swarthmore College men’s basketball team on their historic season, and wishes the team continued success in the future.
