Karen Roza

Karen (née Ordell) Roza, a longtime resident of Swarthmore and Rose Valley, passed away on November 15, 2018 in Louisville, Colorado. Karen was predeceased by her daughter Nadja, who died at age 17, and her sister Joan Ordell. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Bob, of Louisville, professor emeritus of Swarthmore College; her son Eric Roza (Melissa) of Boulder; their four children; and her nephew, Steve Ordell (Nancy) and their children of St. Paul, Minnesota.

Dr. Andrew J. Bobkowicz

Dr. Andrew J. Bobkowicz died on Friday March 15, 2019 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, from late stage Parkinson’s disease.  He was predeceased by his first wife Sally (née Donohue, 2007) and is survived by his four children Mike (Heather Rydeard), Ken (Anna Seranno), Andrea, and Cathy (Bob Goyetche, 2017), as well as his sister Margaret Lefebvre (Ron Walker, 2017). He will also be missed by his grandchildren Simon, Aidan and Chelsey, along with Sally’s extended family of Donohues and countless friends.

Joyce Leet Phillips

Joyce Leet Phillips of Glen Mills entered into eternal rest peacefully while at Mary Washington Hospital on March 25, 2019 at the age of 93. 

Born on March 16, 1926 in Chester, Pa., Joyce was the daughter of the late Eva Cruthers and Thomas E. Leet. She was raised in Chester, while her father served on the staff at Pennsylvania Military College.

David A. Walter

David Walter, artist, athlete, dancer, musician, perfectionist and relentless seeker of knowledge, died peacefully on March 18, 2019. He was 78. David was born in Columbus, Ohio, to Reverend A.C. Walter and Marguerite Walter. He graduated from Swarthmore College in 1962 with a degree in civil engineering. While in school, he was an All-American lacrosse player and gifted wrestler.

Annabel Liu

Annabel Liu, a resident of Plush Mills Senior Living in Wallingford since 2007, died on March 10, 2019. She was 84. Annabel was born in Shanghai, China, in 1935, two years before the start of the Sino-Japanese War. At the end of the Chinese Communist Revolution her family fled to Taiwan. She later came to the U.S. as a journalism graduate student, and married Samuel H. Liu in 1960.

Leslie Anne Fitzgerald

Leslie Anne Fitzgerald, beloved daughter of Roy Fitzgerald and Jennie Keith of Lewes, Del., died February 5, 2019. She was 53. The cause was liver failure after a three-year struggle with many treatments for colon cancer. Hospice in the final week was compassionate and caring, helping Leslie to be pain-free. Loving friends, her pastor and her family surrounded her with goodbyes, tears, music, and prayers. Her parents embraced Leslie during her last peaceful breaths.

Katherine Lord Miller

Katherine Lord Miller of Media, Pa., died peacefully in her sleep on February 15, 2019. She was 78. Born March 18, 1941, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Charles L. Lord and Anne Elmers Lord, Katherine is survived by her husband of 51 years, Jaydee Williams Miller, with whom she lived in Riddle Village, and by her children, grandchildren, brother, other relatives, and dear friends.
