Rolf E. Christensen
Rolf E. Christensen of Swarthmore and Town Bank, New Jersey, passed away on March 28. He was 74.
The youngest of five children, Rolf was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where he lived until he attended Cornell University. After earning both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in mechanical engineering, he moved to Delaware County to work for the Foam Division of Scott Paper. He retired as Chief Operating Officer of Foamex in 1998.
Rolf loved to travel, especially to Provence, France; Maui, Hawaii; Sanibel, Florida; and the Jersey shore. While in high school, he built a power boat in the basement of his home and used it on the lakes in Green Bay for water skiing and touring; it was the first of many boats he owned and enjoyed. In addition to boating, he loved having a private pilot’s license and would tell anyone who would listen about his six-hour glider flight over the Jersey shore. Rolf, however, was most proud of being a father to his sons Laurits (Katie) and Jon (Maile). In addition to his wife, Peg, he is survived by his sons, their spouses, five amazing grandchildren, his stepson, Cliff (Corrie), as well as two brothers and two sisters and their spouses.
The family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to the medical staff of Cape Regional Medical Center in Cape May Court House, New Jersey. Amid the challenge of dealing with the coronavirus outbreak, they provided wonderful care to Rolf in his last days.
Donations in Rolf’s memory can be sent to Cape Regional Foundation, Robert J. Sorensen Education Fund, 2 Stone Harbor Blvd., Cape May Court House, NJ 08210.
Condolences may be shared at Farnelli Funeral Home in Williamstown, New Jersey, at farnellifuneralhome.com. No services are planned at this time.
