Sandy Crosset Ward

Sandra Crosset “Sandy” Ward of Media passed away on Wednesday, January 8, from complications of dementia. She was 92.

Sandy was born in Ridley Park to Donald and Jean (Pohlmeyer) Crosset and spent her entire life in Delaware County. She was a 1945 graduate of Swarthmore High School. 

For most of her life, Sandy served in various volunteer roles. She was very involved with the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and the Philadelphia Flower Show. She served on the Council of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and the Flower Show Executive Committee, and she was a flower show volunteer for over 50 years. Sandy chaired many committees at the flower show, including Competitive Classes, Exhibitor and Awards Luncheon, and Signs. She was also very active in the Providence Garden Club, where she was a past president.

She was predeceased by her husband of over 50 years, William Ward IV, and is survived by her sons, William B. Ward Sr. (Andrea) of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; Donald C. Ward Sr. (Eileen) of Boyertown; Jeffrey A. Ward Sr.; and Mark C. Ward (Elizabeth) of Devon. Other survivors include seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and her sisters Barbara C. Brink (William) and Donna C. Whitaker (William), both of Williamsburg, Virginia.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 2, at 1 p.m., at St. John’s Presbyterian Church, 217 Berkley Road, Devon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, 100 N. 20th St, Philadelphia, PA 19103.
