Gertrude (Trudi) Battershall died on December 10, 2019. She was 98.

Trudi spent most of her 98 years in Swarthmore, where she established a 76-year career in art, working with all forms of ceramics and printmaking. She also had a passion for calligraphy. Trudi took inspiration from her travels, and her fondness for ancient art was apparent in much of her pottery. Beyond her prolific body of work, she was an arts educator who taught students both young and old for over 50 years, instilling her vision of art in generations to come.

When not toiling over her next masterpiece at the Potters Guild, she also found time to be a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, leaving a legacy that her family will always treasure.

Trudi is predeceased by her daughter, Janet Hewett. She is survived by her children Christine Starry (Douglas) and Jeffery Battershall; grandchildren Andrea Landfair (John), Ben Hewett (Lillian), Peter Battershall (Erin), Conner Battershall, and Spencer Battershall; and great-grandchildren Mady Hewett, Chloe Hewett, Avery Murden, Alexander Murden, Nicholas Murden, Maddie Battershall, and Cora Battershall.

There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. on April 4 at the Community Arts Center (CAC) in Wallingford. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Community Art Center, 414 Plush Mill Road, Wallingford, PA 19086.
