Beverly Hammond
Longtime Lincoln County, New Mexico, resident Beverly Hammond died peacefully in her sleep on August 10, 2019.
The only daughter of Foster and June Putney, Beverly was born and raised in Denver, Colo. After college and a career with United Airlines, she married and raised a family in Swarthmore, Pa.
Bev had a close family connection to Lincoln County and returned there with her second husband Samuel Hammond in 1980.
Beverly inspired students as a teacher in the Lincoln County schools. She was also a dedicated interpreter of the Lincoln Historical Monument, and an early curator of the Museum of the Horse when it first opened in Ruidoso.
Bev was predeceased by her husband Sam. She is survived by her three adult children, Kathleen Cole, Barbara Tibbetts and Scott McIntire; and four grandchildren.
