Nelms’ clarity and sensitivity will be missed

To the Editor,

I write to express my dismay and sadness upon learning of the resignation of Satya Nelms from her editorial position at The Swarthmorean. For me, her work has not diminished my admiration for the paper but in fact increased it. She writes well, with clarity and sensitivity about matters related to social justice issues among other things. Her work adds to one’s knowledge about community issues that reflect our nation’s issues and could help people become more conscious agents of changing those conditions, at least locally. For me, the paper is no less fun to read as it is even more compelling. I am sorry that we are losing her as a result of complaints to the publishers about the focus of her good work.
