Movies on the big screen again

Movies on the big screen again

To the Editor,

In case people are not aware of it, the Bryn Mawr Film Institute has reopened and is showing some great movies in its theaters. One has to book tickets ahead of time at brynmawrfilm.org. The theater allows you to pick your seats online, then makes the seats around yours unavailable to ensure distancing between parties. Masks are required. Popcorn and sodas must also be ordered ahead of time, via the website.

Last weekend, I went with two other fully vaccinated people to see The Truffle Hunters, an excellent movie about people in Italy (and their dogs) who find the rare and expensive mushrooms known as truffles. Although it is a documentary, it has the drama, humor, and pathos of a well-told story. One gets to know some memorable characters, both human and canine.

Two weeks earlier, we saw Minari and Nomadland, two wonderful movies that won awards on Oscar night.

BMFI is still making movies available for streaming on their website, but to me there was something very special about being able to go out and see a movie on the big screen again. I urge people to check out this opportunity!

Sincerely,

Carol Lisker Kennedy
