Learning from the French
To the Editor,
After a wonderful breakfast at La Cannelle Cafe, my daughter, who was visiting from Paris, removed from her handbag a small Rubbermaid container and placed what would usually have gone into a Styrofoam box, the leftover entrée.
I remarked what a smart idea that was. She was nonplussed and said it was a pretty customary thing to do in France where the movement to do away with non-essential bags and containers has been in place for a while.
I do hope we will adopt this effort as a small but significant step towards a healthier environment.
Thank you,
