Luminaria cancelled too
To the Community,
It is with great regret that we report that this year’s annual luminaria fundraiser has been cancelled. For so many past Decembers, community members have bought thousands of these candles, nestled in little bags of white sand, and lined the sidewalks with them, lighting them up at 5 p.m. on New Year’s Day. But it’s 2020; what more do we need to say?
Under normal circumstances, the luminaria fundraiser would be well under way by now. Unfortunately, with the schools partially closed, and the need for us to stay socially distanced from each other, there was no practical way for us to make luminaria kits this year. We investigated some alternative options, but none seemed feasible. It was a difficult decision, but, sadly, we will not be lighting up the streets of our communities this year.
If you would still like to support organizations such as A Better Chance Strath Haven (ABC) and Alumni and Friends Supporting Kids (ASK), we encourage you to make a donation, similar to what you would have given by purchasing luminaria.
If you would like to donate directly to ABC, you can do so by going directly to their website.
If you would like to donate directly to ASK, you can do so here.
If you would like to support the luminaria fundraiser, and thus allow us to support both ABC and organizations such as ASK, you can do so by mailing a check, payable to LUMINARIA FUND, to:

We sincerely hope that we can go back to normal next year, and that you will be there, ready to help light up our streets on January 1, 2022.
Best wishes,
The Luminaria Committee
