Senior Wellness Fair: virtual but vital

Senior Wellness Fair: virtual but vital

To the Editor,

The September 11 issue of the Swarthmorean featured an article entitled “Senior Wellness Fair Reimagined.” This year’s fair will be a shortened, virtual version of the Swarthmore Senior Citizens Association’s annual Wellness Fair. I’m writing now to urge local seniors and interested others to plan on “Zooming in” to it on November 7. The topics that will be discussed at the fair — the emotional impact of COVID, and the future of senior housing in the borough — are timely and obviously important.

Since the virus shows no sign of disappearing “like a miracle,” the emotional turmoil it creates is no less likely to magically go away. And, just as unfortunately, right now our senior citizens have few places to turn for available, affordable living space. There is a housing crunch in our town. So, Zoom in on November 7 to learn how to stay resilient in the time of COVID and hear about two intriguing possibilities for the future of senior housing.

By the way, there isn’t any need to register for the program. Everyone on the SSCA mailing list will automatically receive an invitation. For those who want to attend and aren’t on the list, simply email us at SwarthmoreSeniors@gmail.com, and an invitation will be mailed to you. And, in case you’re worried about how to Zoom, rest assured! SSCA will send everyone who wants to attend easy to follow instructions with the invitation to the program. Enjoy!
