To the Editor:
Thank you for publishing Jim Riviello’s letter. The problems he cites are ones that many of us can agree with; however, we diverge on the possible solutions.
Someone (maybe even Einstein) said: “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.” If we elect the same people who have perpetrated our current system, why should we expect a different result?”
Where I diverge from the letter is when he says Trump was the best candidate last election. If we limit ourselves to only the two old parties, we have to choose not the best but the least worst, which required voters to “hold your nose and vote” as the Rev. Franklin Graham, and probably others, said in 2016.
In my fictional future democracy, we will have many voices represented. There are many voices to be heard, much beyond the limits we now have.
