Providing ‘joy and opportunity’
To the Editor:
Since 1994, the Chester Children’s Chorus has provided joy and opportunity to over 570 children from our neighboring city of Chester. On behalf of the entire CCC organization, we would like to thank the many friends and sponsors who supported our 25th Anniversary Fundraising Celebration on the night of October 26, 2019. It really does take a village, and with your help, we far exceeded our original $50,000 fundraising goal — and had a wonderful time doing it, as guests enjoyed a special performance from the CCC Chamber Choir and viewed the premier of our 25th anniversary video, More Than Music.
“How many positive experiences do children need so they will be strong enough to grow into the people they were intended to be?” This crucial question, posed by CCC founder and Executive Director John Alston in the opening minute of the video, is at the heart of what the Chorus is all about. John continues, “My responsibility, and the responsibility of the program, is to prepare the children to improve their community and improve the world.” We invite Swarthmorean readers to experience the CCC’s mission and powerful magic for yourself.
The Chorus exists because of your generosity and our programming continues to grow because of you. Thank you again to our wonderful community of friends and neighbors. Together with you, we will support the growth of Chester’s children for another 25 years.
With gratitude,
