Service is its own reward
To the Editor:
I am disappointed by the proposal to pay local elected officials (mayor, council members, school board directors) for their service.
I was a council member for four years and a school director for six. My compensation, the privilege of public service, was far more remunerative than any financial reward. I find the idea of pay for local public service entirely without merit.
