Out of curiosity, I drove down Engle Street to take a peek at the brewery with the intent of driving by and polishing off a hoagie in the car at the waterfront when I saw a couple cars parked on the side of Larimer Beer Company, and the lights on inside. I tried the door and it opened.

Inside were the two owners, some MLB on the TV, and some real beers on tap. I grabbed my hoagie and made myself right at home.

The Larimer Beer Company, located on Engle and the railroad tracks on front street, opened a few weeks ago but are about a month away from a true grand opening. They brew small batches of beer on site, bring in beer they brew at larger facilities, and offer a few others right in the spot a diesel truck repair shop used to operate.

Of course, I had to try their brew, and after washing down the hoagie, I thought it would be polite to consume another. By that time, a group of young guys strolled in from the area who were already aware of Chester’s best kept secret, and had their first round just before I left.

I set up a time with the owners to come back for a full interview and tour later this week where I’ll share all the details of Chester’s new brewery near the riverfront. Until then, you can stop by like I did and check them out if you’d like a cold one that's brewed just 20 feet away from where you'll be sitting.

I think they should start planning for an expansion real soon.
