Swarthmore Fire & Protective Association Report (January 18-31)
In this two-week period, the ambulance responded to 38 calls for medical assistance, to Swarthmore, Rutledge, Morton, Springfield, Media, Nether Providence Township, and Ridley Township. The calls were for a variety of emergencies, including two active COVID-19 cases, head injury, abdominal pain, seizures, change in mental status, accident with entrapment, and assault.
In addition, the fire company responded to:
Seven building alarms, including one for a basement dryer fire in the 200 block of Sylvan Avenue in Morton, one for a shed fire in the 100 block of East Possum Hollow Road in Nether Providence, one for smoke in the basement in the 200 block of Bowdoin Avenue in Swarthmore, one for an oven fire in the 500 block of Yale Avenue in Swarthmore, and one for visible flames reported by a neighbor that turned out to be supervised, contained burning.
Two automobile alarms, one for an overturned vehicle in the 100 block of Linden Avenue in Rutledge, and one for a person trapped in a car after hitting a pole in the 1000 block of South Providence Road in Nether Providence.
One hazmat alarm for a fuel spill in the 100 block of Providence Road in Morton.
Two automatic alarms.
Four mutual aid calls to Morton, Rutledge, and Nether Providence Township.
