The annual Media Film Festival returns this spring, presented by the Media Arts Council. It will take place Friday, April 9, through Sunday, April 18.
“Islander” was written and directed by Derek Pastuszek, who grew up in Swarthmore. His first short film, “Solitary,” finished a two-year festival run with a special screening at the White House in July 2016. Shortly after Hurricane Sandy, Pastuszek shot “Islander” on Long Beach Island in New Jersey, where his family once owned a home. Pastuszek credits the Wallingford-Swarthmore School District with nurturing his creativity.
Henry Horenstein, whose photo show “Selected Works“ continues on display at the List Gallery in Lang Performing Arts Center, will screen his documentary entitled Partners on Thursday, October 24, at 4:30 p.m. After the screening in the LPAC cinema, Horenstein will talk about his process in making photos and the film.
The 2019 Media Film Festival will once again take the stage at the historic Media Theatre on April 4-6 for a three day showcase of short films. The Aruffo-Rim jury awards will be presented on Saturday night, along with over $1,000 in cash prizes. The ceremony culminates in the presentation of the grand prize, the coveted Golden Trolley.
