Chester Charter Scholars Academy Presents: Step Into Our Studio
Step Into Our Studio is a series of virtual creative workshops – on the visual arts, music, and poetry — led by teachers at Chester Charter Scholars Academy, and featuring academy students demonstrating their own work. This family-friendly series is an opportunity to experience the school’s approach to arts-integrated virtual learning, challenge your creativity, and learn new skills.
On Thursday, February 4, from 5 to 6 p.m., the “Introduction to Digital Music Composition” workshop will be available for streaming. To commemorate Black History Month, music teacher Frank Hosking will explore themes of social justice through music.
The high school students at the academy will demonstrate how they use digital software to create remastered compositions of Billie Holiday’s iconic song, “Strange Fruit.” Following this event, participants can access a free version of the digital composition app Soundtrap to compose their own mix.
There is a suggested donation of $25 per workshop. Register and make a donation here.
