On-Site Farmers Market Sales Resume
Have you missed looking at the strawberries before deciding if you want to buy them? Starting Saturday, June 27, the Swarthmore Farmers Market will again permit on-site retail sales.
Pre-ordering will continue to be an option. “Pre-ordering and prepaying are highly recommended for easy, fast, and safe market shopping,” says Market Manager Andy Rosen.
But impulse purchases will now be possible, although on-site shopping won’t look quite the way it used to.
Here’s what to expect:
Market hours are 10 a.m. - noon.
Shoppers are requested to follow this alphabetical schedule, based on last name, to help limit crowding:
A-F: 10-10:30
G-L: 10:30-11
M-R: 11-11:30
S-Z: 11:30-noon
There will be one market entrance, on Dartmouth Avenue near Park Avenue. Only 25 shoppers will be allowed in at a time. If there’s a line, people will be asked to stay six feet apart. Shoppers will exit onto Lafayette Avenue.
Masks will be required.
Barriers will separate customers from products. Shoppers will tell the vendor what they want, and the vendor will package selections.
A variety of payment options will be offered. Some vendors will use credit and debit cards; some will have touchless options. Cash is not encouraged, but will be permitted (and note that Berry Patch, which will be at the market for the first time this season, accepts cash only).
Hand sanitizer will be available at all vendor stands for customer use.
Please note: no market on Saturday, July 4.
But this Saturday, there will be plenty of strawberries, zucchini, flowers, goat cheese, sausages, and mushrooms.
