Artists, musicians, and athletes from the Wallingford-Swarthmore School District invite you and your family to join them for the third Annual Celebration of the Arts, an evening of music, art, food, and fun at the Wallingford Swim and Racquet Club on Wednesday, August 28, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. It’s an inexpensive and lively party, and all proceeds will benefit the students in the Wallingford-Swarthmore School District Music and Arts programs through the Jack Hontz Endowment and the George Slick Fellowship/Grant Programs.

The event will kick off with a 5K run at 4:30 p.m., with prizes awarded for team spirit, school spirit, best participation, and many other categories. The theme is “Retro-60s” this year, so please consider wearing ‘60s era colors to the event.

After the race, enjoy performances featuring student groups who honor the memory of Jack Hontz with the talents of the Strath Haven School Panther Marching Band and the Silvertones, as well as music by JMW Entertainment. The WSSD Art Department will offer arts and crafts for children and adults, with hands-on ceramics, wheel-throwing, painting, and drawing activities led by art faculty and students from the National Art Honor Society.

It’s a pool party, and all are invited into the club for swimming, pizza and drinks, included in the ticket price of $5 for students and $10 for adults without race entry or $10 and $20 with race entry and commemorative t-shirt. Visit here to register for the event. Make checks payable to WSARC and either drop it off at the pool, 501 S. Providence Road (at Meadow Lane), or mail it to WSARC, P.O. Box 490, Wallingford, PA 19086. Registration must be completed by Tuesday evening, August 27.
